March 29, 2007The 2007 Vale of Aylesbury Sponsored Ride
March 28, 2007The 2007 Vale of Aylesbury Sponsored Ride took place last Sunday at the RAF Halton base near Wendover, Bucks. This is one of our first outdoor equestrian events of the year and marks the start of the outdoor equestrian season. As per previous years, this ride was sold out well before the closing date. This ride raises funds for local charities and we are extremely pleased to be part of the event.
Susie Bell, who is the secretary of the ride was very pleased with the turnout and how smoothly the day went. “The first riders set off at 9.30am and the last two came through the finish at around 4.00pm. In between, there were a few falls and a few loose horses to be caught by mounted stewards and spectators alike, but nearly everybody came back into the office for their rosette with a great smile on their faces. We have approximately 80 volunteers on the day, without whom we couldn’t ever put on such a big event. It’s only thanks to these hardworking people who give up a whole day of their time – and many of them much more – that we are able to stage this event year after year. It takes a lot of organisation but I don’t think a single one of us goes home without feeling satisfied that we’ve done something really worthwhile. “
The prize for raising the most sponsorship money went to John Richardson, who raised a massive £645 and was followed by Angelika Horstmeier who raised £300.
The most popular jumps were the Aeroplane & Water jumps. A big and personal thank you to Stephen Proctor, Sgt. Steven Foster & the team from all of us here at SF Digital. All 3500+ images from the ride are available from our website.

Rebirth of a Legend
March 28, 2007I was in London yesterday photographing a very historic event. The Connaught in Mayfair, which is one of the world’s most distinguished hotel and part of the Maybourne Hotel Group, which includes The Berkeley & Claridge’s, closed down for restorations from 27th March to 1st November 2007. The landmark building will be discernibly refreshed, with a multi-million pound sum to be spent during the first phase of works and, subsequently, on a new wing to the side of the building on Adam’s Row. This will house 33 more guest rooms and suites, a state-of-the-art spa and pool and world-class meeting facilities.
Anthony Lee, General Manager said, “This project is not about re-creation, but rather a contemporary interpretation of the legacy and the results will ensure The Connaught’s position as one of the finest hotels in the world for many years to come. The restoration will involve technological advances as well as respectfully re-designing bedrooms and public space. Guests who have known The Connaught of old are likely to find its appeal fundamentally unchanged – its reputation for discretion and inimitable service will remain a cornerstone of The Connaught experience.“
I look forward to the re-opening of the hotel with much anticipation.

Back-to-back Seminars
March 22, 2007This week started off at a hectic pace. First I had to leave for Edinburgh on Monday for the Photovision Roadshow. Myself & John McDonald of Nikon UK had a very busy day at the Nikon trade stand. The show was very well attended by photographers from all over Scotland and from across the border. I then flew back on Monday evening for the “Wedding Seminar” I was presenting on Tuesday in Leicester.
I am thoroughly touched by the warm and kind comments /email which have been coming in. Here are some:
“Wow, I have barely slept all night! I wanted you to know that I was immensely impressed and inspired by the course you ran yesterday”
Jagvir Banning
“I really enjoyed today at the Wedding Photography seminar. It gave me lots of new ideas about wedding photography.”
Paul Pearce
“A very inspiring speaker. A joy to hear & learn about creative, uncomplicated wedding photography.”
Lisa Davies
“The least useful part of the seminar was the coffee break!! Need more time with you, please Oz.”

March 12, 2007One of the biggest events we shoot every year. This year the tournament was bigger and better than last year. The weather was very kind and we thoroughly enjoyed the day. Teams from all over the UK & France compete for the coveted trophy. Congratulations to Judd for the winners title for 2007.
This tournament consisted of 48 boys & 20 girls teams, 7 photographers and almost 95 matches shot. Over 7000 images are now online via our website and may be ordered securely on-line or via the phone. Don’t forget: 15% Off all orders by 19 Mar 07.
Many thanks to Graham for organising this fantastic event.
Here are some of the action shots and of course all of us.

Focus 2007, NEC Birmingham
March 1, 2007FOCUS ON IMAGING is Europe’s biggest annual imaging show which covers everything from image capture through to output and beyond. A visit to FOCUS ON IMAGING is a must for every photographer. With over 200 exhibitors and product launches galore – this is the place to see anything and everything related to photography under one roof.
However, after 4 days on non-stop activities, my feet ache, my head aches and usually my bank balance takes a serious dent!! But this time I restrained myself from buying something big, just a few bits & bobs.
Thank you to everyone who attended my presentation on “Wireless Flash” and for the complimentary emails being sent. Next up is Edinburgh on 20 March 07 for the Photovision Roadshow. See you there.
So here are some images from the show:
With Dennis at the Nikon Stand, this year Nikon had a brand new stand which was very slick and big with 2 seminar rooms.
With Steve at the Lexar stand. I exclusively use Lexar Compact Flash cards for all my work.
Apple’s stand with their very impressive 30″ Cinema Display. The 30″ dual monitor setup is simply amazing.
It wasn’t all work work work… 18 of us from the DWF met up on Monday night. It was good to meet up with photographers from all over the UK, Ireland & US. Had a great time.
